Things to do in Phuket: spa resorts and much more


Phuket tourism is a thriving industry as there are so many things to see and do. If you are looking for ultimate relaxation, check yourself in one of the many Phuket spa resorts. You will be treated to ancient remedies made to heal your body from the daily stresses. With the use of natural substances such as kaffir lime and camphor, let your experience massage therapist treat your body well. These massage therapists have to undergo many hours of training and will be able to prescribe the best treatment for you.

Phuket is a picturesque getaway with many natural attractions. You can easily find Phuket tours to suit your needs and interests. Here are some places which you might want to check out while you are in Phuket sight seeing. The Two Heroines Monument in Amphoe Thalang, is the most famous monument in Phuket. It is the memorial statue of Thao Thepkasattri and Thao Sisunthon, who lead the islanders in 1785 to fight off Burmese invaders.

Thalang National Museum which is located near the monument has exhibitions of olden days in Phuket, ancient artefacts found on the coastal line and is open everyday except for national holidays. There is a 30 baht entrance fee. With Buddhism as the national religion, there is a plethora of Buddhist temples which you can visit while you are in Phuket sightseeing.

But the Big Buddha of Phuket or "Mingmongkol Buddha" is one you should not miss. Placed in a sitting posture, the statue overlooks Chalong bay and is 45 metres high and 25 metres wide. It is covered with white marble tiles from Myanmar to symbolize the purity of Buddha. It is not only the largest statue of Buddha in Phuket but has the honor of being the largest white marble Buddha statue in the world. Around this statue is also a 7-hectare Buddhist garden designed as a place for meditation, relaxation and peace. Do remember that when visiting a Buddhist temple, proper attire must be worn and shoes must be removed when entering the temples.
