PKaron can be divided into three areas - the south end, the central part and the north area. The south area features a concentration of mainly backpacker budget hotels in Karon. You can find many such guesthouses in this vicinity which may offer only the basic amenities but are safe and affordable.

The Karon beach is 5 kilometres long and ends at the northern part of Karon with a vast lake. This stretch of sandy beach is quieter and has fewer crowds. During the non-monsoon periods, the sea is crystal clear and smooth with few big waves. Should you see any turtle tracks, following it might lead to a possible underground nest. If you get lucky, you might even see sea turtles laying their eggs during night strolls.
